Fantastic, 2010-04-03
I bought this for my wife because she wanted one, It is brilliant do not hesitate in buying one. We now fight over who gets to use it and the garden is never short of bark mulch.

This is our first ever shredder and it's brilliant. Eats everything up and you have either instant mulch for your garden, or instant bark if you're shredding thicker branches. It's a brilliant alternative to a compost heap, and provides much faster results. This equipment is sturdy, easy to use and easy to look after. It's also surprisingly quiet, considering the heavy duty work it does. Don't force feed it with too-big branches - be kind to it, and it will be exceptionally kind to you.

Before I begin, I'm not a gardener. The reason I bought this product was to shred straw to make savings on the shavings for my rabbits' bedding
(my wife, daughter and I all breed rabbits.) Bales of straw to eke it out are pretty cheap, by comparison to the shavings, so I mix them together.
My shredder, admittedly a very recent purchase, hasn't so much had short bursts of heavy duty work, more longer periods of fairly light work. I can confirm that it's quiet and so far efficient. If I had one criticism, it doesn't continuously pull the straw in quite as I expected. But it would be churlish to complain, as overall I'm well chuffed with it and it comes with a prodding tool. The issue doesn't arise if it's something long you're feeding in, as I've fed in the odd long weed and they get pulled through no problem. The straw is chopped into pieces 1.5 to 2 inches long. You need a bag or a box to collect it in, but at the price I wasn't expecting one to be thrown in.
Assembling it was easy. I agree with what someone else said about the spanner that came with it, but with a socket, whether on screwdriver or wrench, it's a dawdle.
