Produces a decent breeze and is reasonably quiet. Battery fits very snugly but not a problem, better than being loose. On/off switch is by rotating the battery cover - odd but seems to work OK.

Recommended buy! I bought two of these for myself and another two to give away as presents because I'm highly satisfied with this excellent little fan. It works great, produces a sufficiently strong breeze, operates without annoying noise, has a slick, compact design and is cheap to boot! As for the problems others are having with the battery hole - yes, you can't pull the battery out with your finger because it sinks pretty deep into the hole and fits in very tightly, but I never found that a problem. You can prod it out with something that has a sharp tip, like a pin, a knife or nail cutting scissors (it's what I used!) quite easily. It also has a long battery life so you hardly ever have to mess with changing it. All in all, great product.

Had one of these fans for about five years, no problem until it stopped working recently so i bought another one. Tried sainsburys, boots, maplin, panasonic and duracell AA batteries in it - they all fit in as they should but when you want to change them you have to have a wrestling match with the damn thing to get them out, i ended up having to use a knife to get them out nearly destroying the fan in the process. Is there a special "skinny fit" AA battery i should be buying?

Fan runs off a single AA battery and gives a powerful breeze. With the batteries we used (Energiser lithium AA) the fit was rather tight making the switch (which is also the cover for the battery compartment) hard to turn on and off. On the positive side it's unlikely to turn on accidentally when being carried in a handbag etc.
